Quantum@School Ghana Project Launched in Accra
The Quantum@School Ghana Project was officially launched in Accra as part of the World Quantum Day Youth Outreach Programme, alongside the inauguration of the country’s first university-based Quantum Club at Palm University College.
On 28 April 2026, ESDEV Foundation Africa, in collaboration with Palm University College and the PQI – Portuguese Quantum Institute, hosted the World Quantum Day Youth Outreach Programme in Accra. The event marked the official launch of the Quantum@School Ghana Project and the inauguration of Ghana’s first university-based Quantum Club at Palm University College.
The event reinforced ESDEV Foundation Africa’s long-term vision to cultivate Africa’s next generation of quantum thinkers, innovators, educators, and researchers through sustained and structured youth engagement. Through the World Quantum Day platform, ESDEV is establishing a deliberate and structured pathway that equips university students and selected senior high school learners with early exposure to foundational quantum concepts, access to global thought leadership, and insight into emerging STEM career opportunities.
The Quantum@School Ghana Project, inspired by the engagement model of the PQI – Portuguese Quantum Institute, will establish Quantum Clubs across universities and selected senior high schools in Ghana. Palm University College serves as the founding institutional node. Its newly inaugurated Quantum Club introduces a sustainable, student-led ecosystem that promotes peer learning, mentorship, innovation, and outreach to schools.
The keynote talk, “The Revolution of Quantum Technologies”, was given by Prof. Yasser Omar, President of PQI – Portuguese Quantum Institute and Coordinator of the World Quantum Day.
