Building for One Europe: QIA Opens 2026 Internship Applications
On World Quantum Day, 14 April 2026, the Quantum Internet Alliance (QIA) opened applications for its Building for One Europe Internship Programme 2026.
The programme offers hands-on experience in quantum technologies, including nanophotonics, quantum communication, quantum computing, and quantum sensing. Interns will contribute to experimental and theoretical work across quantum materials, photonic devices, quantum software systems, and emerging quantum networks. Projects span the full quantum internet ecosystem, from hardware and device fabrication to software development, network protocols, and standards for scalable quantum infrastructures.
The programme is ideal for candidates with a strong interest in physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or quantum information science. It is open to master students, PhD candidates, postdocs, and young professionals studying or working at a university, research institution, or company in one of the following eligible countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Malta, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Sweden. QIA will support each internship with up to EUR 5,000 to cover travel, accommodation, and other expenses.
Internships are hosted by seven institutions across Europe: the Ubiquitous Internet Research Group at CNR (Pisa, Italy), the Quantum Software Laboratory at the University of Parma (Italy), the Quantum Materials Team at LIST (Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg), the Physics of Information and Quantum Technologies Group at PQI (Lisbon, Portugal), the Errando Herranz Lab at QuTech/TU Delft (Delft, the Netherlands), TNO Applied Cryptography and Quantum Applications (The Hague, the Netherlands), and the Wehner Group at QuTech/TU Delft (Delft, the Netherlands).
To apply, send a CV (maximum 2 pages) and a motivation letter to info@quantuminternetalliance.org with the subject line "INTERNSHIP APPLICATION".
Deadline for applications: 31 May 2026
