Quantum computers can solve certain mathematical problems very efficiently. From a security point of view this is, however, rather problematic news, since it breaks the security of a large part of currently used cryptographic algorithms. Many applications and systems are therefore switching to new quantum-safe algorithms – so-called post quantum cryptography.
We explain how this change can be done and what consequences it has. Additionally, we have built a quantum-safe communication channel between the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – School of Computer Science and Information Technology and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland – School of Engineering. You can try it out yourself and video chat in a quantum-safe way.
